Common questions
01 / What to bring

Four things. Nothing else needed.

Show up with these and we can handle the rest at the counter.

01

Valid photo ID

Any current, unexpired government-issued ID — driver's license, state ID, U.S. passport, passport card, permanent resident card, or military ID.

02

Unsigned document

Do not sign it before you arrive. The notary must witness your signature in person — a pre-signed document cannot be notarized.

03

All signers present

Every person who needs to sign must be there in person, each with their own valid ID. Remote or proxy signing is not accepted.

04

Required witnesses

Some documents require additional witnesses beyond the notary. If yours does, bring them — witnesses must also have a valid ID.

  1. 01

    Affidavits & sworn statements

Written declarations made under oath, used in legal proceedings, insurance claims, and many official purposes.

  2. 02

  4. 04

HIPAA releases, healthcare proxies, parental consent letters, travel authorization forms, and similar.

  5. 05

    Vehicle & financial documents

Title transfers, bills of sale, loan documents, and copy certifications where permitted by New York law.

  6. 06

    USPS Form 1583

Required to open a private mailbox. We notarize this free of charge when you rent a mailbox with us — on the spot, same visit.

Notary FAQ

Common questions.

Do I need an appointment?

No. Notary is walk-in during our regular business hours. If you're coming for a complex multi-party signing, a quick heads-up email helps us set aside time.

Can I sign the document before I come in?

No — please don't. The notary is required to witness your signature in person. Bring the document unsigned.

What IDs do you accept?

Any government-issued photo ID that's current and unexpired: driver's license, non-driver state ID, U.S. passport, U.S. passport card, permanent resident card, or military ID.

What documents do you commonly notarize?

Affidavits and sworn statements, power of attorney (POA) forms, real estate documents (deeds, lien waivers, some closing paperwork), loan and mortgage documents, medical forms and HIPAA releases, parental consent and travel authorization letters, vehicle title transfers and bills of sale, copy certifications (where permitted by law), and USPS Form 1583 — notarized free when you rent a mailbox with us.

How much does it cost?

$2.00 per signature — the standard New York State fee. No surcharges. If your document has multiple signatures to notarize, the fee is per signature. USPS Form 1583 is free with a mailbox rental.

What if I need to print the document first?

Email it to [email protected] and we'll print it at our print desk, notarize it, and you're out the door in one visit.

Can you notarize a document in another language?

We can notarize a signature on a document in any language, as long as we can identify the signer and confirm they understand what they're signing. If you don't read English fluently, please bring someone who can explain the document to you — the notary cannot provide that guidance.

Do you provide witnesses?

Staff members can sometimes witness if available, but we can't guarantee it — please bring your own witnesses when your document requires them. Witnesses must also bring valid ID.

What about apostilles?

We notarize the document; after that, you submit it to the New York Department of State for the apostille. We can walk you through the process and ship the completed document through our shipping counter.

Can I notarize a will or living trust?

We can notarize signatures, but New York wills require specific witness procedures. Bring your witnesses, and we strongly recommend an attorney's guidance before coming in to sign.

Bring your ID. Bring your document. Done in five.

Coming soon to Carmel, NY. No appointment, no hassle — walk in once we're open.
